Chamber Committees
The Chamber forms committees to monitor and advance strategic initiatives. Joining a committee will increase your visibility within the business community and improve your ability to work in a team environment. Successful committee members create a path towards future Chamber director and leadership positions.
Here are your responsibilities as a Committee Chair or Committee Member:
Committee Chair
● Oversee the committee's work and ensure that it meets its goals and objectives.
● Facilitate committee meetings and discussions.
● Represent the committee to the board and greater membershipCommittee Members
● Actively participate in committee meetings and discussions.
● Contribute their expertise and knowledge to the committee's work.
● Review and approve committee documents and reports.
● Assist in implementing committee decisions.

Membership Committee
● Develop and maintain a list of potential committee members, composed of both board and general members.
● Recruit new committee members.
● Orient new BGLCC members via the Ambassador Plus program
● Regularly highlight the benefits and value of membership to remind members why they joined.
● Pair experienced members with newer ones to foster engagement and knowledge sharing.

Governance Committee
● Recommend and review bylaws
● Develop and recommend governance principles and policies to the Board
● Make recommendations for Board process improvement and professional development
● Maintain profiles of existing Board members and their terms
● Oversee Board nomination and succession planning
● Plan periodic educational sessions for Board members
● Orient and train new Board directors
● Recommend actions to ensure compliance with legal and fiduciary duties
● Review and revise the committee's job descriptions periodically

Finance Committee
● Review and monitor the Chamber's financial health and fiscal policies.
● Provide oversight for the use of funds and ensure financial viability and sustainability.
● Assist in preparing and presenting the annual operating budget.
● Review interim financial reports and variance reports.
● Ensure accurate financial reporting to the Board of Directors.
● Develop and recommend policies for the investment of funds.
● Monitor investment results and performance.
● Develop and review financial risk policies.
● Ensure compliance with legal and fiduciary duties.
● Provide financial counsel on special projects.

Program Committee
● Develop and shape the Chamber’s annual calendar of programs, initiatives, and events.
● Review and evaluate proposed activities to ensure alignment with the Chamber's mission and goals.
● Assist in planning, organizing, and executing events, such as workshops, seminars, networking functions, and signature events.
● Collaborate with other committees and staff to ensure successful event delivery.
● Gather feedback from members to improve future programming.
● Submit proposed programs and events to the Board of Directors for review and approval.
● Develop and maintain a committee budget.
● Monitor the success of programs and events and recommend improvements for future initiatives. 1
